What is Aromatherapy?
Aromatherapy is a gentle but powerful form of natural healing using therapeutic grade essential oils in a way that can positively effect our physical, emotional and mental health.
Pure essential oils are the life force of plants and can be used to complement traditional medicine.
Essential oils are found in flowers, herbs, leaves, twigs bark, fruit, wood or resin. They are highly concentrated, aromatic and volatile substances that are extracted by distillation or expression.
Aromatherapists recommend massage and inhalation as the most effective methods of introducing these wonderful gifts from Nature into the human body. For massage, a good quality carrier oil, lotion, cream or gel is used to deliver the essential oils to the area needed. For inhalation, a bowl of hot water, diffuser, warm bath, sauna - or something as simple as a few drops on a tissue is used.
While modern science can mimic the fragrance of some essential oils, they have been unable to deliver the therapeutic benefits of essential oils.
